    Description

    Native Gardeners at Russell-Mandel Preserve

Join Heritage Conservancy's core group of native gardeners at our Russell-Mandel Preserve to tend and increase the native gardens on the grounds of the property. Roughly 4 acres of this beautiful 55-acre property are protected by a deer fence and volunteer gardeners, in partnership with our property stewardship staff, are slowly converting the ornamental gardens surrounding the house over to native gardens! The grounds will be used as a demonstration garden for public programs run by the Conservancy. Jobs include planting, weeding invasives, pruning, clearing debris, and assisting staff in other roles as they appear. We are looking for volunteers who are not afraid to get their hands dirty! Knowledge of native and invasive plants is helpful but not required.

When: Gardeners will work Thursdays, 1PM to 3:30PM starting the first week in April and continuing through November (weather permitting)

*It is not required that gardeners attend each week. Work when you can.
