The Salvation Army’s Annual Community Thanksgiving Meal will be hosted on November 27, 2025. The Salvation Army Colorado Springs Corps will be teaming up with Fort Carson team for 38th annual Thanksgiving dinner that will be hosted on Thursday this year. We will serve about 1400 meals throughout our community. We are officially open for volunteers to sign up through our website and selct the Shifts you would like.
The Shifts are as follows on our website:
- 08:30 am – 12:00pm (Front Desk Aide): You will answer the phone, giving callers information about the holiday meal.
- 08:00 am– 1:00 pm (Volunteer Registration) (2 shifts 8:00-10:30 /10:30-1:00): Assist with Volunteer Registration and directing volunteers to their assigned area.
- 10:00 am – 1:00 pm (Volunteer Photographer): Do you have an eye for taking photos? If you have a camera, we will provide you with a memory card. You will be photographing guests and volunteers during the meal.
- 10:00 am – 1:00pm (Door Greeters): This position will greet guests and direct them into the Gymnasium through one of three entrances.
- 08:00 am -1:00pm (Kitchen Lead): This opportunity will aid the sous chef in the kitchen operations, assisting with directing traffic and with refilling the plating area. Knowledge of kitchen management is helpful but not required.
- 08:00 am -10:30 am (Kitchen Assistant): Unload food that will be delivered from Ft. Carson and assist the sous chef as needed.
- 10:00 am - 2:00 pm (Dishwasher) (2 shifts 10:00-12:00 /12:00-2:00): Assist the kitchen at the dishwashing station.
- 10:30 am - 1:00 pm (Pie Cutting): Prepare pies for dessert servers to distribute to our guests.
- 10:30 am - 1:00 pm (Plating Meals): Plating meals that will be delivered to the guests by the meal servers.
- 10:30 am - 1:00 pm (Meal Servers): You will deliver plated meals to guests seated at the tables, returning to the serving line to pick up more plates until all are served.
- 10:30 am - 1:00 pm (Dessert Serving): You will serve a dessert to the guests in the dining area.
- 10:30 am - 1:00 pm (Bussing Tables): Bus the tables as guests leave, preparing for new guests to be served.
- 10:30 am - 1:00 pm (Drink Station): Manage the beverage station by refilling the coffee, water and juice as required.
- 10:30 am - 1:00 pm (Trash): Having hundreds of guests dining with us also means a lot of trash. This job involves regularly taking out the trash in the dining area and placing new trash bags in the receptacles.
- (Delivery Service Area) 08:00-1:00pm am (Delivery Lead Volunteer): This opportunity will aid the sous chef in kitchen operations, assisting with directing traffic and with refilling the plating area. Knowledge of kitchen management is helpful but not required.
- 08:30 am – 11:30am (Meal Delivery Ticket Distribution): Involves organizing meal delivery routes for delivery drivers so that each delivery driver stays in a generalized area. Thorough knowledge of the city is preferred.
- 10:30 am – 1:00pm (Meal Delivery Assembly): You will assemble to-go meals for delivery.
- 10:30 am – 1:00pm (Meal Delivery Organizers): You will assemble boxes of to-go meals and delivery tickets for the drivers.
- 10:30 am – 1:00pm (Meal Delivery Driver): Drivers will deliver meals to homebound individuals. Deliveries will be organized by area.
- 10:30 am – 11:30pm (Meal Delivery Runner (Silvercrest): The Silvercrest Residence is The Salvation Army’s senior living apartment complex next door to The Salvation Army on Yuma. We will place delivery meals in a shopping cart for delivery.
- 12:30 pm - 03:00 pm (Clean-up Team): These are the people who make this all possible. We need help putting away tables and chairs and cleaning the kitchen, serving and dining areas.
