Position Summary
This Executive Director (Volunteer) role is ideal for an aspiring or early-career nonprofit leader interested in digital policy, cybersecurity, or tech-for-good sectors. The ED will work closely with the President/CEO to lead operations, oversee volunteer teams, build partnerships, and support strategic growth. This is a unique opportunity to gain high-level experience and make a real impact in the tech policy space.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and execute Cyber Institute’s strategic vision in collaboration with the President/CEO
- Manage daily nonprofit operations, including communications, scheduling, team check-ins, and project tracking
- Supervise and support volunteer program leads across departments (research, marketing, fundraising, education, partnerships)
- Assist in building and maintaining external relationships with academic, industry, and government partners
- Contribute to fundraising efforts including grants, donor engagement, and campaigns
- Represent the Institute in virtual events, conferences, or partnership meetings (as needed)
- Support the planning and execution of webinars, publications, and education programs
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Passion for nonprofit leadership, cybersecurity, or technology policy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organized, self-driven, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently and lead others remotely
- Professional demeanor and a collaborative spirit
- Previous nonprofit, student organization, or leadership experience preferred
- U.S.-based and available for 30-40 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
- Ideal for graduate students, recent graduates, or professionals seeking course credit or real-world leadership experience
