The Covington Mentoring Program at Holmes Middle and High schools matches adult volunteers with students in grades 6 through 10. Mentors in community- based mentoring meet with students for one to two hours a week after school, in the evenings, or on the weekends for at least a year. Mentors listen, support, and encourage local youth.
Requirements include a one-year commitment, background and driver's check every year. Community mentors undergo one-on-one training before meeting with a student. A program coordinator is available for on going support.
