    Why Join Us?

As a Market Grocery Rescue Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in our No Cook Program by walking around with a cart collecting daily donations of fresh deli items and baked goods from local businesses in Pike Place Market. These contributions directly support individuals by ensuring they have access to ready-to-eat food.

    Shifts Needed:

    • Tuesdays: 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM

    Your Role:

    • Collect Donations: Pick up baked goods and deli items from multiple businesses in the market, following established procedures.
    • Record Donations: Weigh and categorize all items, logging them in our receiving system to track their impact.
    • Inspect & Sort: Check expiration dates, ensure quality, and organize donations following food safety guidelines.
    • Store Items: Place donations in their designated areas in the food bank warehouse.
    • Additional Support: After the pick-up and sorting, assist with general food bank operations like sorting, double-bagging, and prepping for other programs.

    You Are:

    • Comfortable walking and navigating Pike Place Market in all weather conditions.
    • Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs and push a cart with ease.
    • Detail-oriented, with a focus on food safety and quality.
    • Reliable, punctual, and a strong communicator.
    • Passionate about supporting food security and community programs.

    We Provide:

    • Hands-on training for donation pickups and food safety procedures.
    • Guidance from staff and the Warehouse and Donations Manager.
    • Ongoing support to ensure your success in the role.

    Together, We Will:

    • Cut down food waste and provide ready-to-eat food to our community members.
    • Build strong partnerships with local businesses in the vibrant Pike Place Market.
