    Besides working with hospice patients directly, there are many other ways in which a volunteer can help a hospice run more smoothly and improve a patient's quality of life. Volunteers play a vital role that enables the hospice to meet the needs of the community more fully. Administrative Volunteers work primarily in the Murfreesboro office and offering outreach activity support throughout Cannon, Rutherford and Wilson counties.

    Some examples of how our Administrative Volunteers

    MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

    • Assist with light office duties like; data entry, filing, mailings & photocopying

    • Reception tasks; answering phone calls and faxing

    • Preparing supplies for our nurses and aides to take to patients. (We DO NOT keep any pharmaceutical medicines in our office)

    • Decorate the office for holidays

    • Update bulletin boards

    • Make Bereavement calls to caregivers; after being properly trained

    • Assist with projects, special events and Memorial Services

    • Help in the community at Senior Centers with Bingo, Hospice Helpers and decorate for events etc.

    • Attend Vet to Vet Talks.

    • Go out in the community to help promote CARIS and attend job fairs

    REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Volunteer Application

    2. Background Check

    3. Orientation, average 2 hours

    4. Cornerstone Training- Online training videos and resources, average 2 hours

    5. Valid Driver's License

    6. Current Automobile Insurance

    7. Copy of Social Security Card

    Overview of the Volunteer On boarding Process:

    1. Respond to this posting

    2. Fill out a Volunteer Application & Background Consent Form

    3. Speak to Volunteer Coordinator/return applications

    4. Background check is then completed

    5. Set up Orientation Training

    6. Start on-line Cornerstone training

    7. Attend Orientation- average 2 hr. training. *Share your preferences, expectations and goals for volunteering

    8. Turn in Volunteer Time sheet

    9. Have a sense of pride in your accomplishment!
