    Description

    Support Early Childhood Education & Creative Learning in Tanzania

    Join Twiga Vision’s Childcare Program in Arusha, Tanzania, and support the education and well-being of children aged 2 to 12 in a safe, nurturing, and creative environment. Volunteers work hand-in-hand with local teachers to engage children through play-based learning, arts, educational games and academic support.

    Your Responsibilities

    • Assist local teachers in daycare settings for children aged 2–6
    • Organize creative activities: music, sports, arts, storytelling
    • Support remedial classes for primary school children aged 6–12
    • Contribute to our child sponsorship program (home visits, child profiles, follow-up)
    • Help improve the learning environment through painting or small construction projects
    • Encourage intercultural exchange and joyful learning

    Qualifications

    We are looking for volunteers with a passion for children and education. Relevant profiles include:

    • Teachers or education students – to support literacy, numeracy and learning through play
    • Youth workers, activity leaders or educators – to lead creative or physical activities
    • Anyone with experience in early childhood or inclusive education
    • Students in education, child psychology or related fields

    We value open-mindedness, teamwork and cultural sensitivity more than formal qualifications. Each mission is tailored with the Twiga team based on your skills and current project needs.

    Additional skills in arts, music, sports, communication or social media are a plus and can enrich the program, but are not required.

    Important Details

    • Location: Arusha, Tanzania
    • Duration: Minimum 1 month
    • Start: Year-round arrivals (flexible)
    • Language: Basic English required
    • Working schedule: Monday to Friday, ~9AM to 4PM (flexible depending on role)
    • Orientation Day: Held the day after arrival

    What We Offer

    • Ongoing support and supervision by Twiga’s team

    • Airport pickup from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)

    Costs

    • One-time registration fee: $100 (includes airport pickup and orientation day)
    • Weekly program fee: between $30 and $50 (includes weekday lunch, support and contribution to the project)
    • Accommodation options:
      • Host Family: $70/week (included private room, towels and bed linens, breakfast and dinner daily, lunch on weekends, drinking water)
      • Independent Housing: ~$110–150/week (meals and utilities included)
