    Description

    This project will establish a network of accessible libraries (fixed school libraries, community branch libraries, and mobile libraries) and provide trained volunteers and hired tutors to support learners with guided study sessions, homework help, reading clubs and remedial support. The initiative targets children aged 5-18, with special focus on low-income and underserved communities.

    Training & Capacity Building Volunteers – Roles & Responsibilities

    1. Volunteer Trainers
    • Train new volunteers on teaching methods and library management.
    • Conduct orientation sessions on the project’s goals and child protection policies.
    • Equip tutors with skills for effective communication and engagement with children.
    • Develop simple training manuals and guides.
    • Monitor volunteer performance and provide feedback for improvement.
    1. Curriculum Development Volunteers
    • Design and update learning materials suited for ages 5–18.
    • Develop structured lesson guides for reading clubs and study sessions.
    • Align content with Kenya’s education standards where possible.
    • Create fun, inclusive, and easy-to-understand materials.
    • Work with tutors to evaluate effectiveness and suggest improvements.
    1. Educational Resource Developers
    • Create worksheets, flashcards, and educational games.
    • Design age-appropriate literacy and numeracy materials.
    • Support mobile libraries with portable learning tools.
    • Adapt materials for children with learning difficulties.
    • Update resources regularly to keep learning engaging and current.
    1. Capacity Building Facilitators
    • Organize training workshops for volunteers and tutors.
    • Build skills in classroom management, communication, and mentorship.
    • Train community leaders and teachers to sustain the program locally.
    • Identify skill gaps among team members and recommend improvement strategies.
    • Support the NGO in developing long-term training frameworks.
    1. Monitoring & Evaluation Support Volunteers
    • Assess the effectiveness of training sessions.
    • Collect feedback from trainees and tutors.
    • Help track skill development and volunteer impact.
    • Prepare short progress summaries for project reports.
