    Description

    The Board provides strategic leadership, governance and works to build the organization’s resources. As we prepare to celebrate 20 years of advocacy, the organization seeks Board Members who can serve our mission of downsizing poverty through advocacy, fundraising and project-specific expertise. Specifically, the ideal candidate will:

    • Serve as an ambassador for The Borgen Project, working to connect us to a network of people who are passionate about advancing the organization’s mission.
    • Enhance our public profile by connecting us to media contacts.
    • Leverage their extensive experience as an accomplished leader in business, public policy or the nonprofit sector.

    Commitment:

    • Members serve two-year terms, with the potential to extend.
    • Prepare for, attend and actively participate in quarterly (4) board meetings. annually (held via video conference call).
    • Plus monthly 30-minute check-in calls in months when there are no board meetings.
    • Attend annual Board retreat (usually in Seattle or D.C.).
    • Donate or raise a minimum of $5,000.

    Board Selection Process:

    The Selection Committee receives input from the Board of Directors and determines individuals the organization would like to connect with.

    • A team member meets with candidates to learn more about them and determine if the board role is a good fit.
    • Candidates are nominated and voted on by The Borgen Project’s Board of Directors.
