    Description

    Position Summary: The Communications Coordinator will manage and oversee all external and internal communications for VHREC. This role ensures that our mission, projects, and achievements are effectively shared with the public, stakeholders, volunteers, and funding partners. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, and passionate about herpetology, conservation, and science outreach.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement VHREC’s communications strategy to increase visibility and engagement.
    • Manage social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling, and audience engagement.
    • Draft newsletters, press releases, blog posts, and other written materials to highlight research, events, and organizational milestones.
    • Support fundraising efforts by creating promotional materials and digital campaigns.
    • Collaborate with the Fundraising Coordinator and Grant Coordinator to ensure consistent messaging.
    • Maintain VHREC branding across all communications channels.
    • Track and report engagement metrics to evaluate communication effectiveness.

    Qualifications:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience with social media management, digital content creation, and basic graphic design tools.
    • Interest or background in conservation, herpetology, or environmental science is highly desirable.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a small team.
    • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
