    Description

    Volunteer Chaperone Opportunity
    LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!!!

The Saint Agnes Health Institute received a grant to implement a Volunteer Chaperone Program for older adults and adults with disabilities who come to our clinics and doctor's offices via our Lyft program and Shuttle bus in partnership with Action In Maturity (AIM). Some of these patients could use assistance helping them from their home doorstep to the door of the Lyft car or shuttle bus, then from the Lyft or shuttle bus to the hospital door and back home again.

This little extra support, we hope, will help with keeping appointments and also improving overall health.

If you are interested but not comfortable riding in the Lyft car with the patient(preferred with precautions), there are funds available to pay for your own Lyft ride. Then you would follow the patient after helping them into their car.

If that is still uncomfortable for you we are also looking for volunteers to make phone calls. Volunteers will call the patients in advance to remind them of their upcoming Lyft ride and call again to make sure they got home.

There is also a Chaperone Shuttle (golf cart size) that volunteers could operates on the hospital's campus only. The main aim of the golf sized shuttle is to assist patients navigating the hospital campus to get around more easily. This would aid in improving patient experience and service as well as reduce patient stress and anxiety.
