    • Participation in 4 one-hour meetings – kickoff, data collection progress meeting, meeting on development of final materials, final presentation to learn how you can use the data for your own work
    • Help ensure a smooth data collection process – provide contact information for budget and finance people in your circles and secure their participation in accessing data
    • Potentially help connect the team to the right data partners

    PROJECT DESCRIPTION

    Children First is launching a partnership, likely with the Children’s Funding Project to create a fiscal map of the cities of Hopkins and St. Louis Park. The fiscal map will help our community better understand how city budgets are allocated with a focus on programs and services for children and youth and family economic stability. The fiscal map will look at the many issue areas a city addresses – childcare, education, housing, health care, etc. It will not be a map of programs, but rather it will:

    • Identify opportunities for investment in better outcomes for children, youth and families;
    • Identify opportunities for coordination across programs and departments and other levels of government and programs;
    • Identify funding streams that our community could be accessing;
    • Help us be poised for strategic investment by outside funding sources.

    The Children’s Funding Project (CFP) recently worked with the State of Minnesota to produce a State Fiscal Map and with Hennepin County to fiscally map older youth services.
