    Join us in fighting nutrition insecurity in Berkeley & Albany!
    Berkeley Food Network is the largest food assistance organization in Northern Alameda County. At BFN, we believe everyone has the right to healthy food and we're committed to increasing food and nutrition security in Berkeley and Albany. We work collaboratively, sourcing high-quality, nutritious foods to distribute at no cost to our neighbors through a network of pantries, a Home Delivery program, and through partnerships with other organizations in our community.

    None of this work is possible without the hard work of our amazing volunteers!

    BFN offers a variety of volunteer opportunities. You can choose from 2-3 hour shifts doing the following:

    • working the 9th Street or mobile pantries*
    • packing boxes of groceries for home deliveries
    • driving and delivering groceries to members' homes
    • sorting produce and processing recovered food

    This video provides an overview of of BFN’s mission, values, opportunities, and programs.

    * Pantry volunteer positions require watching an additional training video which provides a program overview, outline the variety of volunteer pantry roles, and presents the philosophies in our work with community members. Training will include customer service and de-escalation best practices, as well as approaches to serving members in the context of food insecurity.
