    Description

The Safe Heart Safe Parking Program will provide a safe and legal space for individuals and families living in their vehicles (cars and trucks, only. No campers or RVs) to park overnight.

    How will the program work?

o The program will offer 5 designated, secure parking spaces where homeless individuals and families living in their vehicles can sleep safely, reducing the risks of harassment, theft, or being ticketed/towed.

o It will operate overnight, from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am with rules to ensure safety and minimize any disruptions to the neighborhood.

o There will be a locked port-a-potty and trash receptacles onsite.

o Guests will be checked in and out by trained volunteers, and the parking lot will be monitored overnight.

o Guests will be connected to professional case management services that will help them seek and find housing, healthcare, mental health treatment, and other resources to assist them in moving beyond homelessness.

o This will be a 3-month pilot program (July-September), after which we assess the success of the program and see if it should or can be continued.
