    Description

Women's empowerment - Side by Side for Her Strength

Improve the economic, social and psychosocial situation of a group of marginalized women in the Arusha region.

Join a new ethical volunteer initiative that empowers women in Tanzania. Twiga Vision’s Side by Side for Her Strength is a year-long training and empowerment program for marginalized women in Arusha — including single mothers, widows and elderly women in vulnerable situations. Volunteers will work hand-in-hand with local trainers to support workshops on sewing, crafts, health, entrepreneurship and women's rights.

    Your Responsibilities

    • Co-lead hands-on workshops with local facilitators (sewing, crafts, health, literacy…)
    • Collaborate on designing training materials and sessions
    • Support individual follow-up with participants
    • Encourage intercultural exchange and learning
    • Contribute ideas for creative, educational or entrepreneurial activities

    Qualifications

We are looking for volunteers who can bring professional or academic skills to strengthen women’s autonomy and development. Relevant profiles include:

    • Nutritionists or health professionals – to co-lead workshops on nutrition and health
    • Coaches or therapists – for personal development and confidence-building sessions
    • Psychologists – to provide individual or group emotional support
    • Trainers in entrepreneurship, marketing or management – to support women entrepreneurs
    • Legal professionals or activists – to raise awareness on women’s rights
    • Other fields related to women's empowerment and development

Students in these fields are warmly welcome. Each mission is co-designed with the Twiga team based on your skills and current project needs.

We also value strong adaptability, teamwork and cultural sensitivity, as well as the ability to work respectfully in a cross-cultural setting.

Additional skills in sports, music, yoga, theater, communication, social media or event planning are a plus and can enrich the experience for both volunteers and participants, but they are not mandatory.
