PR & Media Volunteer - Help Us Share Our Story!

Are you organized, resourceful, and passionate about media and communications? Hero to a Child is looking for 1-2PR/Media volunteers to help us expand our outreach and increase awareness of our mission to support children in foster care throughout Pinellas and Pasco counties.

We're seeking individuals who can help us build a comprehensive communications directory and identify free or low-cost marketing opportunities. Your work will directly support the promotion of our events, campaigns, and programs across multiple platforms.

While this is a virtual opportunity, qualified persons will be local.

Responsibilities:

• Research and create a working media contact list including:

  • Local TV and radio stations

  • News outlets and reporters

  • Print media and magazines

  • Online media outlets and influencers

• Compile a free local event listing directory for upcoming event promotion

• Identify and recommend affordable advertising or promotional opportunities in the Tampa Bay area

• Collaborate with our team to keep media contacts updated and organized

Qualifications:

• Strong research, organization, and communication skills

• Familiarity with local media landscape (or willingness to learn)

• Experience with PR, marketing, or communications a plus, but not required

• Comfortable working independently with light guidance

• Google Sheets or Excel knowledge is helpful
