    Description

Aspire Education is the Bay Area’s leader in effective supplemental education programming!

The mission of Aspire Education is to ensure every student in the Bay Area has access to an educational mentor. And for more than 30 years, we have promised - and delivered! - real results to over 22,000 students by connecting them to a small community of educators and mentors with content expertise and emotional intelligence. Our top priority is to empower students to grow in confidence, competence, and grit. We are driven by the conviction that although potential is equally distributed across lines of race and class, opportunity is not. Aspire is dedicated to interrupting patterns of inequity in our community, with the shared vision that all young people should have the opportunity for equally high outcomes without regard to where they start in life.

As an organization, the Aspire Education Board of Directors seeks out input from a diverse range of sources to improve our impact towards educational equity. We are now looking for new community members to join our Board of Directors to lead this expanding social enterprise. We need the right leaders to help us connect, network, and expand awareness of our services, and you can be a part of creating that change.

Please respond in VolunteerMatch and then fill out this short survey and someone from the Board of Directors will be in touch with you soon. Our process for evaluating Board members generally follows this process and lasts ~3.5 total hours:

    • Complete your application in VolunteerMatch and fill out this short survey: https://forms.gle/gTM2PWckqMD6fG5o6
    • Speak with a member of the Board (~30m)
    • Speak with a committee chair and the executive director (~1 h)
    • (Optional) Speak with additional board members
    • Attend a committee or strategy meeting (~1 hour)
    • Attend a board meeting (~1 hour)
