    Description

Star Durable Pads began in April 2017, in response to an urgent need for menstrual hygiene materials for girls and women here in Uganda. Currently in Uganda there is inadequate access to knowledge on menstruation, as well as social stigmas which associate shame and secrecy with menstruation.

Lack of access to menstrual sanitation products has been linked with girls missing or dropping out of school, and women missing work, limiting their life choices and decision-making power. Lack of knowledge and accessibility to sanitary menstrual hygiene products can additionally lead women to using unsanitary alternatives. Improving the accessibility of menstrual hygiene products and empowering women to take control of their menstrual cycles is thus essential for achieving social equality.

The intern will lead a small project to widen the reach of Star Pads and support more girls to access clean and safe sanitation products working as part of an experience team at WORI.

The position will have two main responsibilities:

    Business development 80%

Help advertise the business, investigate new revenue creation and evaluate how effective they are currently running.

Fundraising for current and future entrepreneurial projects 20%

Researching and writing grant proposals, creating advocacy campaigns that fit our fundraising ethos. Developing donor relations, creating and maintain social media. Investigate new projects and ideas.
