    Description

    Adult ESL Volunteer Tutor

    The Indo-American Center is in need of volunteers for our English as a Second Language (ESL) program. Volunteers will work with students in the adult literacy program who need help learning the English language and help with reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Volunteers will work with students in small groups or one-one-one. You can meet at the Indo-American Center, a library, cafe, or wherever is easiest for both of you. If Zoom/Whatsapp is preferred, that is also ok. Once you are matched with a student, the both of you will coordinate times/days that work best for both of you!

    We are strictly adhering to COVID-19 protocols and safety measuring including social distancing, wearing masks, and checking temperatures.

    Requirements:

    • Commitment of about 2 hours per week
    • Twelve hours of Tutor Essentials training through LiteracyWorks (this is free to you)
    • A good command of English, patience, enthusiasm, and a desire to help others
    • 12 week commitment is required, with a longer commitment welcomed
