    Description

    Agora is seeking a Finances Lead to coordinate the organization’s financial strategy, with a strong emphasis on grant management. This role is responsible for overseeing budgeting, compliance, financial reporting, and ensuring effective stewardship of funds. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of grant accounting, donor compliance, and financial planning within the nonprofit sector.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Grant Management & Compliance:

      • Oversee all aspects of grant financial management, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and regulations.
      • Prepare and submit financial reports to grantors and donors, adhering to strict deadlines.
      • Monitor grant budgets, ensuring funds are allocated and spent in alignment with programmatic goals.
      • Develop and implement financial policies and internal controls to support grant compliance.
      • Work closely with program teams to align financial planning with grant objectives.

    Financial Planning & Oversight:

      • Develop and oversee Agora’s annual budget in collaboration with the Advocacy Officer and leadership team.
      • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly and quarterly financial statements.
      • Provide financial forecasts and risk assessments to support strategic decision-making.
      • Manage cash flow to maintain the organization’s financial health and sustainability.
      • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and funding gaps.

    Accounting & Auditing:

      • Supervise bookkeeping and ensure accurate record-keeping of financial transactions.
      • Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance.
      • Maintain financial records in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS, or other applicable frameworks).

    Donor & Stakeholder Engagement:

      • Collaborate with fundraising and development teams to provide financial data for grant proposals.
      • Communicate financial insights to donors, board members, and key stakeholders.
      • Support contract negotiations and financial terms for funding agreements.

    Qualifications & Experience:

      • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
      • Strong expertise in grant management, donor compliance, and nonprofit financial reporting.
      • Experience with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar).
      • Knowledge of international grants and multi-currency financial management is a plus.
      • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking skills.
      • Ability to communicate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
      • High ethical standards and commitment to Agora’s mission.
