Sutter Care at Home Hospice has many opportunities for those that wish to volunteer and make someone's day! These opportunities include relieving a caregiver and providing respite, socializing with a patient, providing emotional support to family members, playing music, playing games or running errands, bereavement and more!
How to get started:
The first step to becoming a hospice volunteer is to contact the Volunteer Department. You will be asked to complete an application followed by an interview. You will then take the hospice volunteer training. We have online and limited classroom training options.
Health clearance, vaccinations and a background check are provided through Sutter Health. Our volunteers are required to receive or show verification of an annual flu shot and Tuberculin skin test or blood test, provide immunization records or titers showing immunity to MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and Varicella, show proof of TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and COVID-19 vaccinations, complete a drug screen and a health screening, consent to a criminal background check, and submit a copy of current driver’s license and auto insurance. Sutter will provide health screening and any necessary tests or vaccinations. Volunteers work closely with Volunteer Program Coordinator as members of the hospice team.
