    Description

    Veteran Hospice Volunteer

    Position Summary:

    We are seeking individuals in the community who are Veterans that will have a deep understanding of military culture to support our mission to increase care to veterans and their loved ones in hospice. As a Hospice Veteran Volunteer, you will provide compassionate support and comraderie to veteran patients and/or families facing the end of life, ensuring they receive the honor, respect, and care they deserve.

    Key Responsibilities;

    • Provide companionship and emotional support to veteran patients and/or their families
    • Engage in meaningful conversations and share comraderie of military experiences, if appropriate
    • Participate in veteran honor ceremonies that highlight a patient's dedication to freedom and country
    • Promote learning and education with the hospice staff and volunteers to continually improve veteran-centric quality care provided to veterans and their loved ones

    Qualifications:

    • Must be a veteran or an individual with a deep understanding and appreciation of military culture
    • Compassionate, empathetic, and respectful demeanor
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to commit to a flexible volunteer schedule
    • Completion of hospice volunteer orientation and onboarding procedures

Our Volunteer Coordinator will reach out to you via email or phone call during business hours to introduce you to the onboarding process.
