    Description

    About ICA:

International Child Advancement (ICA) empowers orphans and underserved youth to become self-sufficient through education, economic empowerment, and mentorship. Our events raise funds, build awareness, and bring together the community to support our mission of creating opportunities for children in Buffalo and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

    Role Overview:

International Child Advancement is seeking a Volunteer Event Planning Lead to oversee the planning, management, and execution of our signature events. This is a leadership volunteer role for someone with experience in event planning and fundraising who wants to directly impact children’s lives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead strategic planning and logistics for ICA events:
      • Back-to-School Drive (partnering with local organizations)
      • Rising As One Art Soirée
      • Future events, including a Walkathon (planned for 2026)
    • Develop timelines, budgets, and goals for events
    • Coordinate with vendors, venues, volunteers, and staff
    • Oversee fundraising and sponsorship opportunities tied to events
    • Ensure smooth on-site execution and post-event follow-up

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in event planning and execution
    • Fundraising experience preferred
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills
    • Comfortable managing volunteers and multiple stakeholders
    • Passion for ICA’s mission and commitment to supporting underserved youth locally and abroad

    Time Commitment:

    • Planning meetings leading up to each event
    • Attendance at ICA events (approx. 3 per year)
    • Flexible hours depending on event preparation and needs

    What's In It For You?

    • Make a tangible impact on children’s lives in Buffalo and the DRC
    • Leadership experience in nonprofit event planning
    • Networking with local community partners, donors, and ICA supporters
    • Recognition as a key volunteer leader for ICA events

This is a hybrid volunteer role: most planning and coordination can be done virtually, with occasional in-person requirements including venue visits, vendor meetings, and event attendance.
