    Description

Volunteer needed to Lead Saturday Bronzeville Neighborhood Walking Tour for Chicago hostel Guests

MUST BE A RESIDENT OF CHICAGO OR THE CHICAGO AREA TO APPLY.

Time Commitment: We are looking for a volunteer to lead our Saturday morning Bronzeville tour 9:30a-12:30pm on select dates (at least once per month) when our usual tour guide is unavailable.

Do you enjoy interacting with people from different countries and cultures? Are you interested in sharing your knowledge about neighborhood history? We offer daily tours and outings for hostel guests wanting to see and experience all that Chicago has to offer. This is a great opportunity to meet and engage with people from around the world.

We invite you to bring your area of expertise to curate a recurring Bronzeville Chicago neighborhood tour.

We are seeking a volunteer who can shadow our existing Bronzeville tour as training, and use our volunteer's notes to lead the tour on dates when our other tour guide is unavailable. The tour covers Black history in Chicago from The Great Migration to gospel music origins and more.

The volunteer would meet guests at our hostel in the Loop, then take them on the CTA to the select area, where the volunteer would lead the tour.

Our tours include off-the-beaten track sites, minority-owned businesses that hostel guests can support and patron, and inclusion of historically underrepresented / diverse perspectives of the city.
