    Description

    Research & Engineering Project Leader: Microbiology
    • This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
    • Project Leaders are expected to put in a minimum of 8 hours per week and be responsive to emails within 36 hours.
    • STW(tm) welcomes volunteers who are seeking skill-based volunteering opportunities. STW(tm) shall provide a "letter of recommendation" to professionals who demonstrate outstanding contributions for professional references.

    SUMMARY:

    This role is required to work with leadership in preparing the accreditation for the microbiology laboratory. A Project Leader should be able to maintain quality, safety, and control standards.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage laboratory accreditations and licensing requirements.

    • Work with the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) to get our Lab accreditation.

    • Connect with Internal/External stakeholders on matters related to the accreditation.

    • Maintain all required records for operations, licensing, and accreditations.

    • Develop and ensure compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures, and test methods.

    • Lead a team to get the job done efficiently and effectively.

    • Attend weekly/monthly meetings as per schedule.

    EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

    • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.

    • Bachelor’s degree completed or equivalent work experience (at least 3 years or more full-time paid corporate/non-profit work experience)

    • Bachelor’s degree in biology.

    • Technical competence in analytical chemistry and/or microbiology.

    • Experience in Laboratory management.

    • Microbiological experience is required.

    • Good analytical skills and willingness to learn.

    • Good oral and written communication skills.

    • Focused attention to detail and critical thinking.
