    Description

Guardian ad Litem is seeking volunteer advocates to speak on behalf of children who have experienced abuse, abandonment, and neglect. This assignment will take 6 to 8 hours per month. The goal is to help children find their way to a safe, loving, and permanent home. These children are often moved from home to home, resource to resource, school to school and sometimes the person filling this role is the only consistent adult in the child's life. Advocates are appointed by the court to advocate, mentor and protect the rights and best interests of a child involved in a court proceeding. Advocates visit the children and asses their situation case by case. They will then help recommend ways to improve the child's quality of life.

The Florida Guardian ad Litem Program continues to be a powerful and effective voice advocating for the best interests of Florida’s abused, abandoned, and neglected children and be recognized and respected as a partnership of community advocates and professional staff.
