Volunteer Gardener-Groundskeeper

Our organization is seeking volunteer gardeners-groundskeeper to keep our grounds maintained on a daily basis. Responsiblilites will be maintaining gardens around the facility and landscaped areas.

Duties will include planting, pruning, raking, maintaining plants and monitoring the health of plants, etc.

* Planting all types of plants, including flowers, shrubs and trees

* Maintaining plants by watering, fertilizing and trimming them

* Using and maintaining gardening tools and light gardening machinery

* Identifying and treating diseases, pest infestations and other issues with garden plants

* Cleaning up garden areas

* Providing recommendations for gardens

* Handling edging, mulching and other garden tasks

* Following safety guidelines for applying chemicals and using equipment

• Knowledge of horticulture methods and materials, landscaping and cultivation of trees and woody plants.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
• Ability to perform grounds maintenance tasks.
• Skill in interpreting and completing landscape plans.
• Knowledge of fertilizer and/or pesticide applications.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

If you have this experience and would like to apply to perform your skillset to assist our organization, you will need to attend our 2 hour orientation interview. Applications will be taken on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 am. Applicants must be available for 2 hours when turning in the application, for orientation and interview on the same day. Adult applicants will also be required to undergo fingerprints the same day (off-site) which is a $30 for self-volunteers. (Minors will not have to undergo a background check).
