    Volunteer Tutors Urgently Needed

    About Us

    The Muindi Foundation is a small, San Jose, CA-based nonprofit that serves low-income and under-resourced students to Change The Trajectory. We invest in a child's entire academic journey -- from early education to college and beyond. Join us in transforming lives, one student at a time. We help kids reach or exceed their grade levels, and support their mental health and social-emotional learning. All of our programs are free for qualified families.

    We are in need of two tutors ASAP for our fall program.

    Duties

    • Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring
    • Support students in reading comprehension, writing, and foundational math
    • Create a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment
    • Help students build confidence, develop strong study habits, and pursue their academic goals

    When & Where

    • September 29 - November 20, 2025
    • Days: Monday-Thursday
    • Time: 3:30 PM - 5:15 PM
    • Location: Muindi Foundation in San Jose

    Time Commitment

    We ask volunteers to commit to at least two afternoons per week (3:30-5:15 PM) for a minimum of 10 weeks. This strikes a great balance between volunteer availability and student consistency, which is vital for academic growth and building trust.

    Qualifications

    • Passion for education, equity, and student success
    • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
    • Must pass a background check
    • University Students in good standing (GPA 3.0+)
    • High school seniors (GPA 3.5+)

    For High School Students

    • Verified community service hours provided
    • Mentorship experience ideal for college applications
    • Reference letters available upon successful completion of the program
