Do you love puppies and dogs? Do you have a couple of hours available per month? Then this might be the volunteer job for you!!
Volunteers provide assistance with the day-to-day care of both dogs and puppy litters. Tasks include playing with puppies and dogs to provide stress relief, monitoring and documenting canine activity/behavior, cleaning (urine, feces), laundering towels and bedding, and, depending on the shift bathing puppies or walking dogs. Volunteers may also be asked to assist paid team members with feeding and medicating dogs as well as regular collection of stool samples for testing.
This is a very physical role. Volunteer applicants should be able to stand and walk unaided for 3-hours, be able to step over baby gates, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, sit on the floor and move hoses.
The dogs and puppies are not always well-behaved and can be "mouthy." There is a risk of being jumped on (adult dogs can reach up to 80 pounds); therefore, all volunteers must be strong, capable, confident and have excellent balance. We will train you on proper handling.
Please use the application link in the position description on our website.
Volunteers must be at least 18 and complete an application, prescreening, interview and criminal background check. We do not accept court-ordered service.
