    Description

The Bulwark isn’t just a business, it’s a mission. We're a fast-growing media company founded to provide analysis and reporting in defense of America’s liberal democracy. Our podcasts, newsletters, and videos cut through the noise to deliver sharp, independent analysis.

Led by voices like Tim Miller, Sarah Longwell, and Bill Kristol, our work reaches millions of people every month and helps shape the national conversation about politics, democracy, and the future of the country.

Inside The Bulwark, we live by a few simple rules: candor over spin, collaboration over ego, and a commitment to making each other better. We’re a nimble, fast-moving team that takes our work seriously — but not ourselves.

We’re looking for an Operations Associate to join us.

    About the Role

As Operations Associate, you’ll support the behind-the-scenes work that keeps The Bulwark running smoothly. This is a hands-on role for someone who’s organized, curious, and eager to learn how a growing media company operates.

You’ll work across teams — from recruiting and onboarding new hires, to coordinating live events, to supporting both business and content operations. No two days will look quite the same, and you’ll gain broad exposure to how our organization functions.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who’s ready to take ownership, build skills, and grow within a dynamic, mission-driven media company.

    In this role, you will:

    • Assist with business and content operations — from tracking key metrics and researching audience trends to supporting planning and decision-making needs across teams.
    • Support hiring and onboarding — posting jobs, communicating with candidates, and helping with orientation.
    • Coordinate logistics and on-the-ground operations for live events and merchandise projects, working closely with the Events & Merch team.
    • Support the social media team with scheduling or posting content, and helping grow our audience across platforms.
    • Help manage day-to-day operations — vendor coordination, office management, scheduling, internal communications, and documentation.
    • Support internal systems and processes (e.g., HR, finance, and team operations).
    • Assist with project tracking and follow-up to keep tasks on schedule.
    • Jump in wherever needed — we’re a small team and value people who take initiative.

    About You

    You bring:

    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • A proactive, can-do attitude and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
    • Curiosity and eagerness to learn new systems and take on new challenges.
    • Strong attention to detail and follow through.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills.
    • Experience with Google Workspace, Slack, or project management tools is a plus.
    • Genuine interest in The Bulwark’s mission and work.

    What We Offer

We want people at The Bulwark to thrive and provide:

    • Competitive pay
    • Full employer-sponsored health plans
    • 401(k) plan with employer match
    • Generous vacation and paid time off
    • Commuter benefits and Employee Assistance Program

Our team works together in person five days a week at our DC office. We’re mission-driven, collaborative, and direct — and we value people who bring ideas and energy to the table.

Interested? We’d love to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a short cover note about your interest in The Bulwark and what you’d be excited to contribute.
