    Description

    ABOUT UNBXND

Unbxnd is an innovation-focused international development organization dedicated to doing things differently to achieve radically different outcomes for communities. Partnerships are at the core of our work, as we collaborate with NGOs, governments, and grassroots innovators. Our methodology involves mapping proven solutions from around the world and then localizing and scaling them in new contexts, rather than starting from scratch. By leveraging existing ideas and adapting them with local partners, we aim to accelerate impact and improve lives across diverse communities.

We are currently seeking experienced and forward-thinking professionals to join our Global Consultant Roster for upcoming projects. This roster will consist of experts in various thematic areas who can drive innovation and systems change within their field. Consultants on the roster will be considered for long-term assignments that tackle complex development challenges in new ways. Our projects are remote, allowing you to collaborate with our global team from anywhere (with occasional travel for specific projects).

    AREAS OF EXPERTISE

We welcome applicants with technical expertise and at least 5 years of experience in innovation within one or more of the following thematic areas:

    • Peace & Security – e.g. conflict prevention, peacebuilding, inclusive governance, durable solutions
    • MSME Development & Entrepreneurship – e.g. supporting micro, small and medium enterprises, market access, startup ecosystems.
    • Climate Change & Environmental Sustainability – e.g. climate resilience, clean energy, sustainable agriculture solutions
    • Digital Innovation & Data for Development – e.g. ICT4D, digital public infrastructure, AI solutions for development

    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of our consultant roster, your contributions will vary by project and specialization. Typical roles and responsibilities include:

    • Project Leadership or Technical Support: Serve as a project lead or subject-matter expert on assignments, providing strategic guidance and innovative solutions in your thematic area.
    • Co-Design and Implementation: Work closely with Unbxnd team members and local partners to co-create project plans, adapt global best practices to local contexts, and implement solution prototypes or interventions.
    • Partnership Engagement: Collaborate with a network of stakeholders (community organizations, government agencies, private sector partners, UN agencies, etc.) to ensure initiatives are inclusive and widely supported.
    • Innovation Mapping: Identify and assess existing successful solutions or technologies that can be leveraged, and guide the localization and scaling of these solutions in the project context.
    • Monitoring & Learning: Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes, and share learnings and insights to inform broader practice and future initiatives.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional experience in one or more of the thematic areas listed above, with a demonstrated focus on innovation or transformative approaches in that field.
    • Education: Advanced degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. international development, social sciences, engineering, public policy, etc.)
    • Proven Impact: Track record of contributing to successful projects or initiatives that introduced new approaches, technologies, or partnerships to achieve social impact.
    • Collaboration Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working in multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams. Ability to build partnerships and co-create solutions with diverse stakeholders is essential.
    • Adaptive Mindset: Creative problem-solving abilities, comfort with ambiguity, and a willingness to challenge the status quo in order to drive better outcomes.
    • Language: Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in other major languages (especially French, Spanish, or Arabic) is an asset.
