  • About Us

The Community Purchasing Alliance (CPA) believes that by working together our community institutions can be a more transformative force for: (1) living wage jobs, (2) environmental sustainability, and (3) equity & resilience in our local economy. CPA realizes this vision by leveraging the power of the group and resourcing administrators to save on utilities, facility services, and supplies.

    · CPA works with 130 congregations, schools, and non-profits to reduce operating costs while ensuring better service and creating an anchor institution committed to greater social impact.

    · CPA has mobilized $10 million in clean energy investments -- including 12 solar installations and helping 80 organizations transition to 100% wind power.

    · CPA partners with top leaders from some of the highest profile schools (KIPP DC, Friendship, Chavez Schools), faith institutions (Episcopal Diocese of Washington, Union for Reform Judaism), and mission-aligned partners (Center for Community Change, ACE Hardware).

    · CPA is a 100% member-owned cooperative.

CPA is building a larger vehicle for social change by actualizing greater environmental and social impact and generating earned income for community organizing.
