    In this role, you will set up and coordinate the implementation of SBC projects across Africa from start to finish. You’ll play a key part in expanding MAGENTA’s global footprint by spearheading the implementation of a new regional hub in Nairobi, continuing to support our clients across the world in delivering impactful SBC programmes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    The SBC Programme Manager will report to the Africa Senior Programme Manager. Typical tasks include:

    Business development & growth

    • Play an active role in expanding MAGENTA’s portfolio in Africa, by identifying new business opportunities, partnerships and donor priorities
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, UN agencies, INGOs, and local partners to strengthen MAGENTA’s visibility and positioning in the region;
    • Lead project design, including theories of change, activity design, M&E frameworks, resource plans, financial plans
    • Lead on identification and vetting of experts, consultants and local partners to form winning project teams on bids;
    • Champion winning proposals, including leading on technical and administrative inputs;
    • Develop case studies, concept notes, and thought leadership content that demonstrate MAGENTA’s impact and showcase innovative SBC approaches;
    • Represents MAGENTA at regional forums, donor meetings, and industry events;
    • Regularly update and refine marketing and communications materials, including capability statements, project one-pagers, and pitch decks.

    Account management and delivery

    • Develop project plans, Gantt charts and resource plans for effective SBC programme implementation;
    • Account manage up to four projects simultaneously at one time (overall responsibility for projet delivery and client relationship);
    • Coordinate project partners e.g. consultants, vendors, media and civil society;
    • Monitor project KPIs and update project management tools;
    • Organise project logistics, including travels and calendar scheduling;
    • Conduct regular desk reviews and situation analysis;
    • Co-facilitates workshops and training in country as per project needs;
    • Develop impactful and operational SBC strategies and roadmaps;
    • Produce content for diverse SBC toolkits and capacity building packages as per project needs;
    • Ensure quality design of project outputs in accordance with branding and visibility requirements.

    Knowledge management

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation and filing systems;
    • Regularly update the MAGENTA databases, including past performance records, contact lists, and partner testimonials;
    • Write and circulate detailed meeting notes and debrief summaries to ensure organisational learning and institutional memory;
    • Contribute to the development of internal learning materials and communities of practice on SBC and programme management.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Relevant degree from a top tier university required; Masters preferred
    • At least 5 years professional experience with at least 3 years experience in field;
    • Substantial knowledge of relevant technical areas such as SBC, behavioural science, HCD, media and strategic communications and research.
    • Ability to work effectively, respectfully and successfully with governments, clients, partners and other stakeholders in complex settings;
    • Knowledge of and experience living in Africa strongly desired;
    • Excellent written and spoken English and French is required, a third MAGENTA language (Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese) an advantage;
    • Strong technological and software fluency, including Office 365, Power BI, and Canva; familiarity with digital analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite) or data analysis software (Stata, R or SPSS) is a plus.

    GROWTH & OPPORTUNITIES

    This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key part in establishing MAGENTA’s presence in sub-Saharan Africa. As part of a small, entrepreneurial team setting up MAGENTA’s new Nairobi hub, the SBC Programme Manager will directly contribute to shaping our regional strategy and operations.

    Working closely with the Senior Programme Manager for Africa, the Programme Manager will help build and strengthen relationships with UN agencies, donors, and implementing partners based in Nairobi, while supporting the coordination and delivery of Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) programmes across the continent.

    This position offers exposure to strategic partnerships, programme design, and regional management. It’s ideally suited for a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to hustle, a collaborative mindset, and a strong appetite for challenge and growth in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
