    Block by Block Creative is a mission-driven storytelling agency working with nonprofits, Indigenous Nations, conservation organizations, and public-interest partners across North America. We create films, digital content, and strategic communications that elevate community-led stories to achieve world-changing impact.

    We’re looking for a Business Development & Partnerships Associate to support our growth efforts by helping identify, track, and advance new opportunities aligned with our work.

    Position Overview

    This is a part-time, contract role supporting business development and partnerships. You’ll help source and research opportunities, maintain an organized pipeline, and support early-stage outreach and pitch development. You’ll work closely with the CEO and collaborate with our social and marketing team to help translate business development insights into outreach and campaign ideas.

    This role is ideal for someone early- to mid-career who is interested in business development within the creative, nonprofit, or mission-driven space.

    Key Responsibilities

    Business Development & Partnerships

    Research and identify new business opportunities, including RFPs, RFQs, grants, and partnership calls.

    • Maintain an organized opportunity pipeline and tracking system.
    • Conduct background research on prospective clients, partners, and funders.
    • Draft first-pass outreach emails, opportunity summaries, and internal notes.
    • Support preparation of pitch materials and proposals in collaboration with leadership.
    • Coordinate follow-ups and help ensure opportunities move forward.

    Collaboration & Strategy Support

    • Collaborate with the social and marketing team on campaign and outreach ideas that support business development goals.
    • Share insights from opportunity research to inform positioning and messaging.
    • Participate in periodic planning and check-ins with leadership.

    Digital & Web Tasks

    • Update website content using Wix and Squarespace.
    • Assist with newsletter content and other digital communications tasks.
    • Create simple graphics and social creative using Canva.
    • Maintain social content database using AirTable.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • 1–3 years of experience in business development, partnerships, research, communications, or a related field.
    • Strong writing and research skills.
    • High level of organization and attention to detail.
    • Comfort working independently in a remote environment.
    • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines.
    • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

    Preferred

    • Experience with RFPs, proposals, or grant research.
    • Familiarity with Airtable.
    • Experience working with nonprofits, agencies, or mission-driven organizations.
    • Interest in storytelling, media, or conservation-related work.

    Level of Language Proficiency

    English language fluency.
