    Contract overview:

The Senior Consultant provides senior-level consulting services to KM Strategies Group on a project basis. This role is responsible for delivering defined workstreams or discrete deliverables aligned with client engagements and internal priorities. The Senior Consultant operates independently, exercising professional judgment over how work is planned, executed, and completed, within agreed project goals, timelines, and deliverables.

This role contributes a mixture of high-quality tactical execution and client/project-specific strategy and advisory support. Success is measured by the quality, clarity, and timeliness of outputs, as well as effective collaboration with KMSG staff and clients. The Senior Consultant does not manage KMSG personnel and does not hold internal decision-making authority.

    Scope of services:

    Project delivery and tactical execution

    • Own and deliver defined workstreams or discrete deliverables as outlined in project scopes or statements of work
    • Translate project objectives into clear, complete, and client-ready outputs
    • Manage personal workflow, sequencing, and work processes to meet agreed deadlines
    • Identify risks, gaps, or dependencies related to assigned deliverables and propose solutions

    Strategic advisory support

    • Provide project and task-specific analysis and recommendations grounded in research, experience, and client context
    • Contribute perspective that sharpens project direction and strengthens decision-making
    • Pressure-test assumptions and refine recommendations to ensure rigor and credibility
    • Support synthesis across inputs without assuming internal leadership authority

    Quality control and standards

    • Ensure submitted work products meet agreed standards for accuracy, clarity, and strategic coherence
    • Review and refine materials prior to submission to minimize rework
    • Incorporate feedback from KMSG and clients efficiently while preserving strategic intent

    Collaboration and communication

    • Coordinate with KMSG team members and clients as needed to complete assigned deliverables while setting your own schedule and managing your project deliverables
    • Participate in project-related meetings relevant to the contractor’s scope of work when required
    • Communicate progress, questions, and risks clearly and in a timely manner
    • Maintain momentum and alignment across shared workstreams through proactive communication

    Informal guidance and knowledge-sharing

    • Provide ad hoc guidance or feedback to Consultants, Research Associates, or Fellows when relevant to shared project work
    • Share expertise, tools, or best practices through collaboration
    • This role does not include supervisory authority, performance management, or formal people management

    Qualifications and experience

    • Demonstrated senior-level experience in communications-focused consulting or advisory work, including editorial strategy, writing, and substantive editing

    • Strong background in digital strategy, including audience growth, content distribution, paid and promoted content, and platforms such as Google Ads and social media advertising tools

    • Proven experience managing and executing social media content and community engagement across platforms, including posting, moderation, and performance tracking

    • Hands-on content creation and production skills, including light graphic design using tools such as Canva, Figma, or comparable platforms

    • Excellent analytical, writing, and synthesis skills, with the ability to translate strategy into clear, usable content

    • Experience working directly with clients or external stakeholders in a professional services environment

    • Ability to independently manage complex, communications-driven deliverables within defined scopes, timelines, and contractor-based engagements

    Measures of success

    • Deliverables are completed on time and aligned with agreed project objectives
    • Work products demonstrate rigor, clarity, and strategic value
    • Collaboration with KMSG staff and clients is efficient, professional, and solution-oriented
    • The contractor operates independently while contributing constructively to shared goals

This role is engaged as an independent contractor. The Senior Consultant retains control over how work is performed, supplies their own tools and workspace, and may provide services to other clients concurrently. This role is not eligible for employee benefits and does not include authority over KMSG personnel, internal management decisions, or firm operations.
