HDFF believes that mental health is an integral part of an individual’s life, particularly humanitarians as according to the World Health Organization (WHO), 22 percent of people who have experienced war or other conflicts have reported having mental health disorders, indicating the mental toll being in such situations can have on individuals. Beyond their personal mental well-being, humanitarians may also have to support those who were affected by the conflict and may exhibit acute stress reactions that can lead to long term mental health problems.
