    Volunteer for the Mentors and Mimosas Gala 2026!

    Description Join Ignite Arts and STEM for our annual flagship fundraiser, the Mentors and Mimosas Gala. This event celebrates our mission to provide essential arts and STEM education to BIPOC students in the Greater Los Angeles community.

    What Makes This Event Unique? This isn’t your typical gala. It is an immersive afternoon featuring a student art exhibition, inspiring speakers, and high-energy networking. As a volunteer, you are more than just "help"—you are a crucial part of our mission, ensuring a seamless experience for our mentors, students, and supporters.

    Volunteer Roles:

    • Ambassadors: Welcome guests, manage check-in, and guide attendees through the student art gallery.
    • Production Crew: Help us transform START Los Angeles into a vibrant gala space and assist with a smooth pack-out.
    • Hospitality: Assist with the flow of our signature "small bites" and beverage service.

    Volunteer Perks & Hospitality: We believe in taking care of the team that takes care of us! All volunteers will be provided with:

    • Curated Catering: Enjoy the same gourmet small bites and light snacks served to our guests.
    • Refreshments: A variety of non-alcoholic "mocktails" and soft drinks will be available throughout your shift.
    • Scheduled Breaks: We ensure every volunteer has time to rest, eat, and take in the student art exhibition.

    Shift Schedule:

    • Shift 1 (Setup & Event Kickoff): 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Includes a 30-minute shift-change briefing at 1:30 PM).
    • Shift 2 (Mid-Event & Breakdown): 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM (Includes a 30-minute shift-change briefing at 1:30 PM).
    • Shift 3 (Full Day Impact Team): 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Our "anchor" team for the entire duration).

    Attire: All-black "Cocktail Casual" attire preferred.

    1. Official RSVP and Selection

    To join our volunteer team, please click the "Apply" button here on Idealist.

    • Note on Shifts: In your application message, please specify if you are interested in Shift 1 (Setup), Shift 2 (Breakdown), or Shift 3 (Full Day).
    • Selection Process: Because we provide gourmet catering and specific assignments for our team, we manage a strict headcount. We will review all applications and confirm your assignment via the Idealist messaging platform within 48 – 72 hours.
    1. Our Volunteer Commitment Policy

    We view our volunteers as professional partners. Because we curate a specific experience and gourmet meal for every team member, we only accept applications from those who are 100% committed to attending.

    • Attendance Tracking: Please note that Ignite Arts and STEM tracks volunteer attendance. Future opportunities are prioritized for those with a consistent record of reliability. We reserve the right to decline applications from individuals with a history of multiple "no-shows."
    • Mandatory Re-Confirmation: All confirmed volunteers will receive a check-in message 48 hours before the event. A prompt reply is mandatory to keep your spot.
    • Cancellations: If an emergency arises, please notify us at least 48 hours in advance. No-shows without notice prevent us from offering the spot to others and result in wasted nonprofit resources.

    Venue: START Los Angeles

    • Entry: Please enter through the main doors on Venice Blvd.
    • Check-In: Look for the Volunteer Check-In Table immediately to your left upon entry. This is where you will receive your name tag and your station assignment for the day.
    1. Preparation Checklist
    • What to Wear: Please wear all-black "Business Casual" attire. This helps our team look cohesive and professional. Comfortable shoes are a must, as you will be active throughout the gallery space.
    • What to Bring: A refillable water bottle and your enthusiasm. Please avoid bringing large bags or valuables, as we have limited secure storage available.
    • Arrival Time: Please arrive 10 minutes before your shift starts (7:50 AM for Shift 1/3 or 1:20 PM for Shift 2) to ensure you are checked in and ready for the briefing.
    1. Food & Hospitality

    We believe in taking care of the team that takes care of us! All volunteers will be provided with:

    • The same gourmet small bites and light snacks served to our gala guests.
    • A selection of non-alcoholic "mocktails," water, and soft drinks.
    • A designated 20-minute break to refuel and enjoy the student art exhibition.
