Local Building Inspector

The Town of Chatham seeks a knowledgeable and engaged professional to fill the position of Local Building Inspector within the Community Development Department.

Under general direction of the Director of Community Development and direct supervision of the Building Commissioner, this position is responsible for administrative and technical work connected with the interpretation, compliance, and enforcement of the Massachusetts State Building Code, local Zoning By-Laws and pertinent regulations including Short Term Rental regulations. The Local Building Inspector reviews plans and specifications for construction projects, conducts field inspections to ensure compliance with applicable codes, issues orders and notices as needed, and provides guidance to the public and contractors.

This benefits and pension eligible position is 40 hours per week and is covered under the Chatham Municipal Employees Association. Starting annual salary $72,592.00 - $75,524.80 paid at a biweekly rate of $2,792.00 - $2,904.80 depending on qualifications and experience.
