    Manhattan Borough President-elect Brad Hoylman-Sigal seeks a Director of Communications to be part of his new team. The Director will be part of the Office of the Manhattan Borough President’s (MBPO) senior team and will report to the Chief of Staff.

    This position demands exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, a deep understanding of the New York City media ecosystem, and a creative and collaborative working style. The Communications Director will partner closely with the Borough President and Chief of Staff to shape, direct, and execute the office’s overall communications and messaging strategy and execution.

    The Director will lead and manage staff in the Communications Unit, cultivate strong relationships across the Borough, especially with reporters, editors, digital news outlets, and unconventional media channels. They will oversee all public-facing communications materials, including, but not limited to, press releases, speeches, digital media, and press-event planning.

    The salary range for this role is $110,000-$140,000, commensurate with experience.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
    • 5+ years of experience in communications work or activities in an area related to the duties described above, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • At least 3 years of experience in New York City-based political communications.
    • Prior work in government.
    • Existing relationships across New York City media.
