The Office of the Solicitor has independent litigating authority in both federal court and administrative tribunals under numerous federal statutes, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Other major practice areas include litigation under the whistleblower protection statutes and employment standards for federal contractors.
