The Wisconsin Volunteer Ombudsman program celebrated 25 years of service in May of 2019. This program provides support in 32 counties throughout Wisconsin. Trained volunteers make unannounced weekly visits to a designated long term care facility, working to empower residents & their families to communicate concerns and complaints by providing support and empowerment. The Volunteer Ombudsman assists residents by being their voice and working hand in hand with the facility staff to resolve issues.
Requirements: Agree to a 6 month commitment, Pass a criminal background check , (paid by our agency), Be free from conflict of interest, A ttend 7 1/2 -hour training, p rovide own transportation, m ake unannounced, weekly visits to assigned facility, c omplete monthly reports, and e njoy spending time with residents in nursing homes.
