3LPlace empowers neurodiverse adults to reach their individual potential, follow their passions, and live meaningful lives.Our mission is to support adults with developmental disabilities to lead meaningful lives in the community; to sustain adults over their lifespan, beginning with their transition from high school to middle age and beyond; to develop best practices, models, and content that are supported by evidence-based research; and to share what we develop and discover with the broader community for replication. We have built a deeply connected, warm, diverse community that embraces neurological differences and encourages self-determination, where everyone feels safe, engaged, and ready to do their best. Our members include people living with autism, Down syndrome, and various other challenges. Diagnosis isn't important; what our members have in common is their readiness to grow their abilities and choose a path to a meaningful, gratifying, healthy, and connected life.3LPlace came about through the efforts of a group of parents seeking more options for their own maturing children. These parents knew first-hand that for too many young adults with developmental disabilities, reaching the agent of 22 means losing the support and services that make continued growth possible. 3LPlace is currently the only self-directed community-based program in Massachusetts that is available through the Department of Developmental Services self-direction service option.Our overarching goal at 3LPlace is to help our members be their best selves, every day. Through lifelong learning, our members work toward being:

• Empowered, able to advocate for themselves
• Contributors through work and volunteering

About the 3LPlace Program Model

We offer a highly personalized modular programming structure, with self-determination at the heart of our program. Our members decide what they want to explore based on their own interests, goals, timing, and budget. We begin by putting the individual at the center of the process, focusing on what is most meaningful to him or her, including environment, aspirations, friends, and families. We identify each individual's strengths and challenges and support them to learn, develop skills, participate in activities, and achieve realistic, meaningful goals. We focus on each individual's interests and passions in life. We believe that an individual's personal interests can be harnessed to accelerate self-determination, independence skills, friendships, and social behavior.Equally important is the need for all people to belong to a community that values them and accepts and celebrates their contributions. 3LPlace's work occurs in community – the individual's immediate community of teachers, friends, and families – as well as the larger community that includes employers, shopkeepers, people on the street, bus drivers, and more. The Greater Boston area is our most important classroom, and we spend much of our time learning in that context.Our menu of day, evening, and weekend programming is based on our unique 3LPlace Curriculum, a comprehensive and ground-breaking blueprint for change. The Chief Executive Officer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced leader to serve as 3LPlace's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), driving daily operations while guiding the next phase of sustainability and impact. Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with the Founder, the CEO will set and execute our strategic direction, including growth and potential replication, ensure financial sustainability, and oversee organizational management. We are currently operating with a budget of almost $1.3M and a talented and deeply dedicated team consisting of 8 FT staff, several PT staff, and 2-3 interns. As part of a lean and nimble organization, the CEO will work to create and refine management systems and practices that will allow our team to continue to focus on delivering exceptional support to our members while positioning 3LPlace for growth. We are seeking a leader with a strong background in nonprofit management, excellent interpersonal skills, and a deep commitment to our mission.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Partner with the board of directors to develop and review strategic plans and policies, with a focus on organizational sustainability, effectiveness, and growth
• Provide daily leadership to the team, actively engaging in every aspect of the organization's work
• Lead fundraising activities, including grant proposals, funder meetings, and reporting in order to build on our existing base of support through both new and enhanced relationships with donors, funders, and partners
• Regularly engage with staff, members, and families and caregivers to build trusting relationships and understand the evolving needs of constituents
• Oversee 3LPlace's financial management, including annual budget allocation and tracking, financial planning, cash flow planning and monitoring, and regular reporting
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance workplace for all staff; support the growth of the team through professional development opportunities and initiatives to promote staff well-being
• Lead, mentor, and empower senior staff leaders in their roles as managers
• Build an organizational culture that recognizes and values the strengths of the team while ensuring strong business practices, including clarity of decision-making roles
• Partner with the team, Founder, and Board to refine and actualize growth plans
• Represent 3LPlace in public forums, media, and community events to raise awareness of and support for our mission
• Cultivate and steward relationships with key external entities, including the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services
• Advocate for public policy changes that impact the mission of 3LPlace
• Support prospective board member identification and cultivation, in collaboration with the board of directors

Candidate Profile

As a strong candidate for the CEO position, you will demonstrate many – though perhaps not all – of the following skills, experiences, and characteristics:

• You are an experienced nonprofit leader, with at least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role and demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial management, staff management, and Board management and development.
• You have had prior success in roles that require balancing both strategic vision and tactical work and daily organizational leadership through effective decision-making, prioritization, planning, and delegation.
• You are action-oriented and able to address challenges by identifying sustainable solutions.
• You have demonstrated success in fundraising and are motivated toward building external relationships with a variety of donors and funders to support organizational growth.
• You are a relationship-oriented, asset-based staff manager and leader who leads with curiosity and humility and can inspire, develop, and support a diverse team.
• You believe deeply in supporting self-determination and equity for neurodivergent individuals.
• You lead with a focus on building community and belonging.
• Familiarity with disability advocacy through professional or personal experience is considered a strong advantage.

Location

The CEO will be expected to maintain a significant on-site presence at 3LPlace in Somerville as well as represent 3LPlace with external constituents.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $150,000, plus benefits.
