    Description

Intern – Massachusetts Afterschool Partnership (MAP)

Location: Hybrid (Boston-based office and remote work options)

    Hours: Part-time, flexible (10–15 hours/week)

    About MAP

The Massachusetts Afterschool Partnership (MAP) works to ensure that all young people in Massachusetts have access to high-quality out-of-school time (OST) programs. We collaborate with state agencies, schools, community-based organizations, and youth leaders to strengthen afterschool and summer learning opportunities across the Commonwealth.

    Position Overview

MAP is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Intern to support a wide range of projects that advance our mission. This internship is designed to give college students exposure to nonprofit operations, youth development policy, state government, communications, and program support. No prior experience in afterschool or youth programs is required, just curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to equity in education.

    Responsibilities

Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to MAP’s work based on organizational needs and their own interests/skills. Responsibilities may include:

      • Communications & Outreach: Draft social media posts, help with newsletters, update website content, and create graphics or flyers.
      • Research & Policy: Assist with background research on education/afterschool policy issues, gather data for reports, and track legislation related to out-of-school time.
      • Program Support: Help prepare materials for trainings, events, and conferences; provide logistical support during events (in-person and virtual).
      • Administration & Operations: Support database entry, file organization, and other day-to-day tasks that keep a nonprofit running smoothly.
      • Special Projects: Work with MAP staff on new initiatives, such as developing resources for afterschool providers or supporting youth engagement projects. Assist with achieving deliverables in grants supporting the agency such as projects in STEM and entrepreneurship.

    Qualifications

      • Current undergraduate student (all majors welcome).
      • Interest in education, youth development, public policy, government or nonprofit work.
      • Strong communication, verbal and written, and organizational skills.
      • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
      • Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

    What You’ll Gain

      • Hands-on experience in nonprofit and education policy work.
      • Exposure to statewide networks of educators, policymakers, and youth advocates.
      • Opportunities to build skills in communications, research, and project management.
      • Mentorship and professional development from MAP staff.
