    Description

    Get paid, while building your skills at a growing organization filling a key need in the Latine community!

    We have an opening for a paid Communication Intern at Hola Cultura, a non-profit bilingual and bicultural organization that uses the arts and humanities as a means to inform, educate and promote civic engagement within the Latino community. Founded in 2011 in Washington, DC, we recently opened an office in East Boston and are expanding our work and our impact.

    As a Communication Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission by enhancing our outreach and engagement efforts. This internship offers an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in media relations, social media, journalism, nonprofit management and community outreach.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in developing and implementing communication strategies to promote our programs and initiatives
    • Assist with recruitment process for SPEL participants and other volunteers
    • Support the creation of press releases, social media content, and newsletters
    • Conduct research to identify community needs and opportunities for engagement
    • Help plan and produce events and public speaking engagements
    • Maintain media contacts and assist with media relations activities
    • Proofread and edit communication materials for clarity and accuracy
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms

    Qualifications

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Familiarity with AP style and journalistic ethics
    • Experience or interest in community outreach, recruitment and digital marketing
    • Excellent research and proofreading abilities
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
    • Prior experience with public speaking or social media is a plus.
    • Passion for community service, arts, writing or cultural promotion
    • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in communications, journalism, nonprofit management or related fields
