The Brennan Center seeks a six-month contractor with substantial expertise in survey research to provide support services to our Research Department. The Research Contractor will engage with Brennan Center employees and other stakeholders across different programs and departments on designing and fielding survey research projects. In particular, the Research Contractor will contribute to the design, implementation, analysis and communication of survey research on public opinion related to democracy and justice. The Research Contractor will report to the Director of Research.
The Research Contractor is expected to provide approximately 40 hours of support per week. Given the demands of this position, the Brennan Center prefers that the contractor be located in or near New York City. They will be required to come into the office as requested.

This consulting position requires substantial experience in survey research, including questionnaire development and familiarity with survey design, R and Qualtrics, and communicating technical research findings to broad audiences.
This temporary position is that of an independent contractor, and nothing in this Request for Proposal (RFP) or any resulting agreement shall be construed to create an employer–employee relationship, a partnership, or a joint venture with the Brennan Center. Accordingly, the candidate selected for this engagement will be responsible for payment of all applicable income taxes directly to the federal, state and municipal authorities, and has no claim to employment benefits offered by the Brennan Center. The hourly rate for this contract will be $50-70 depending on experience.
