    Description

    The Housing Rights Center (HRC) is seeking one Full-Time Housing Navigator to serve Ventura City residents through a partnership with the City of Ventura. HRC’s mission is to actively support and promote fair housing through education and advocacy, to the end that all persons can secure the housing they desire and can afford, without discrimination prohibited by law. The Housing Navigator will work Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with 2-3 days at an official City of Ventura location and with remote work permitted or required the remaining work days.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Provide in-person services during normal business hours, two-three days a week.
      • Provide one-on-one consultations in-person or via phone with information, referrals or assistance.
      • Provide tenants and landlords with information on their respective legal rights and responsibilities.
      • Input intake data into our case management system.
      • Screen incoming callers and walk-ins for possible discriminatory conduct.
      • Provide limited legal assistance for tenants to resolve their current housing issue.
      • Assist Supervisor with preparing regular monthly and quarterly reports.
      • Assist with special projects, trainings and other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

      • A demonstrated sincere interest in helping others.
      • Knowledge of landlord/tenant and/or fair housing laws preferred.
      • Previous experience with providing legal support or legal assistance preferred.
      • Experience in interviewing and assisting low-income communities.
      • Strong people and customer service skills.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with being computer literate.
      • Good problem-solving skills and proactive communication,
      • Reliable, punctual, organized, and flexible in your job duties.
      • Bi- or multi- language ability including ASL preferred but not required.
      • Have reliable mode of transportation to go to work.
      • Ability to be flexible in your job duties.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    Salary range from $51,000- $60,000 DOE. HRC offers an excellent benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance. A 403(b) retirement plan with employer contribution is available after one year of employment. A generous paid holiday, vacation, and sick leave time is provided.
