    Description

    Conservation Allies is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Conservation Officer (CO) to build capacity and conservation actions across West and Central Africa by:

    1. Identifying and supporting dedicated conservation NGOs who are engaged with Protected Areas in need of assistance (e.g., parks facing challenges) and IUCN Members.
    2. Assisting each partner to build their communications capacity and enhance their fundraising efforts.
    3. Helping develop, support, and oversee specific Protected Area projects with each partner.

    Location:

    • Working and living remotely anywhere across West and Central Africa.

    Qualifications and Experiences Requested:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Conservation, or other relevant fields. Master’s or doctorate degree is a bonus.
    • Required Experience:
      • 5+ years of related conservation and/or protected area management experience.
      • Examples of positive impacts and reducing deforestation for PAs.
      • Strong writing and communication skills.
      • Fluency in English is required.
      • Strong French language skills are a bonus.
    • Skills (a bonus but not essential):
      • Strong organizational and time management skills.
      • Ability to work independently in remote and challenging environments.
      • Proficiency in the use of drones for environmental monitoring.
      • Experience with Global Forest Watch.
    • Passion for conservation and environmental issues in West and Central Africa.

    Compensation:

    Salary is competitive and will commensurate with experience. In addition to the monthly salary, per diem and travel expenses will be covered while in the field.
