    Description

    The New York Philharmonic connects with millions of music lovers each season through live concerts in New York and around the world, as well as broadcasts, recordings, and education programs. After returning to a transformed David Geffen Hall in 2022, the Orchestra is acting on a renewed commitment to building on a legacy of more than 180 years, serving as a platform for today’s greatest musical artists and connecting with our communities. Gustavo Dudamel will become the Philharmonic’s Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Music and Artistic Director in the 2026–27 season.

    The New York Philharmonic seeks a Manager, Foundation Relations to play a critical role in securing and stewarding institutional gifts in support of the Philharmonic’s artistic and educational programs, community outreach activities, media initiatives, and special projects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage a substantial portfolio of foundations throughout the grant lifecycle, prepare grant proposals and reports.
    • Manage the activities of all foundation giving, including identifying, cultivating, and soliciting new sources of support, while managing current annual grants.
    • Represent the organization in donor-facing settings including, presenting program updates at meetings, participating in funder briefings and hosting foundation partners to concerts, rehearsals, education programs and other events.
    • Maintain an active pipeline of foundation prospects through research, outreach and relationship building.
    • Oversee all foundation records and maintenance in database and tracking files.
    • Track progress toward annual revenue goals and prepare regular updates for leadership.
    • Oversee fulfillment of funder benefits and contractual obligations including proper crediting in all print and digital materials.
    • Coordinate budgets with finance and other teams as they relate to proposals and reports.
    • Participate in Development events and projects, as needed (e.g. staff the Galas)
    • Participate in Patron Lounge duty during the concert season to assist with guest tracking and ensure positive guest experience.
    • Commitment to contributing to an inclusive working environment.
    • Miscellaneous duties as assigned, which may include occasional night and weekend work.

    Requirements:

    The candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and a minimum of three years of development experience, preferably in institutional giving, with knowledge of the foundation solicitation and stewardship process. The candidate will have a proven track record of maintaining effective relationships with donors, strong writing and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects within a fast-paced work environment. Good computer skills, including Word and Excel, and experience with a fundraising database are essential, Tessitura a plus. Experience at an arts organization and knowledge of classical music preferred. Occasional evenings or weekends required to attend performances and/or cultivation events.
