    Description

    Rising Hope Mission Church (United Methodist) is a safe place where you can gain spiritual and physical sustenance. We have several worship opportunities available and offer assistance through our Food Market, Rising Hope Kitchen, Hope Closet, Hypothermia Shelter, and countless other need-based services.

    This position reports directly to the Food and Nutrition Manager.

    Kitchen Associate Job Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a culture that exemplifies Rising Hope’s core tenets of creating a loving and inclusive environment for all persons
    • Exemplify the standards necessary to lead within a faith community environment.
    • Plan, cook, and serve weekly lunches
    • Plan and cook food for special events, as needed
    • Work collaboratively with kitchen and drop-in volunteers
    • Ensure kitchen and fellowship hall is clean, sanitized, and orderly during and at the end of the working day and perform monthly (at minimum) deep clean of kitchen supplies and equipment with custodian and volunteers
    • Maintain refrigerator and food items in accordance with Servsafe guidelines and mark food items with dates for tracking/expiration
    • Track and report number of guests and plates served each day
    • Set-up, maintain, and tear-down seating and hospitality stations for drop-in and lunch
    • Keep inventory of kitchen supplies and report needs to Food and Nutrition Manager
    • Track food donations for lunches and number of meals distributed daily

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Prior meal planning experience is not required but recommended
    • Must maintain current Servsafe food handler’s training and certification
    • Must be physically able to lift, lower, or pull objects up to 50 pounds unassisted.
    • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time.
    • Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and directions.
    • Must be able to maintain good customer relations with our guests, volunteers, and co-workers in a team environment.
