    Description

The American Flood Coalition (AFC) is a nonpartisan group that drives transformational adaptation to higher seas, stronger storms, and more frequent flooding. AFC comprises more than 500 elected officials, local leaders, military groups, and businesses that work together to advance resilient and equitable flood solutions at the local, state, and federal level. As the only organization that focuses on flooding and sea level rise across all levels of government, AFC is uniquely positioned to help advance solutions that keep communities safe.

    Position Summary

We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Operations Associate Director or Director to join our growing organization. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the leadership team, this role will drive AFC's financial systems, oversee HR and hiring, ensure organizational compliance, and oversee the work of an operations team of 1-2 direct reports and external vendors. The Operations Associate Director or Director will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission by ensuring financial integrity, operational efficiency, and strategic resource allocation, as well as continuing to foster an exceptional workplace culture for all staff.

The position is a tremendous opportunity to make a real impact by shaping the financial and operational backbone of an organization that helps flood-affected communities adapt and thrive. Our ideal candidate is eager to advance their career in nonprofit management. On any given day, they are equally excited to work on financial reporting as they are to recruit and coach a team to make AFC an excellent place to work for all employees. The final title and scope of responsibilities for this role will be dependent on relevant skills and experience. AFC is committed to growth from within, and anyone hired at the Associate Director level will have the opportunity to grow within their role and then into Director-level position over time.
